There are lots of good restaurants up and down the Main Line, but area residents planning to visit Pond at 175 King of Prussia Road in Radnor will have to radically adjust their culinary compass. While the prices are by no means insignificant – appetizers between $8 and $19 and entree prices between $27 and $29 – the food and service at this elegant palace of gastronomy, formerly home to Passerelle, are literally transcendent.I truly wish there were some fault I could find with Pond to make this article seem more “balanced” and make me appear more difficult to please, but we were completely won over by the carefully rendered dishes, ingredients as fresh as sunshine, seasoning applied with the precision of a clock maker and cooking as sophisticated and affectionate as a sonnet by Shakespeare. New Look & Menu at Avalon Restaurant Wednesday, February 6, 2008
The restaurant business is a constantly changing endeavor. A metamorphosis of sorts every five years helps to keep an establishments concept fresh and its patrons intrigued.
Recently celebrating their five year anniversary Avalon in West Chester followed that very advice. A re-design of both the main diningroom and second floor diningroom added a streamlined decor, moody blue back lighting and a more casual feel.
This was not the only change for 2007/2008. A re-design of the menu takes the restaurant in a slightly different direction. The new menu includes a larger selection of our more popular Italian influenced dishes, a price fix menu with more choices as well as many entrees under $20. Some of these new dishes include Antipasti Plates, Artisanal Cheese Plates, Crudites, and a large section of Homemade Pastas. (more…)
