David Uosikkinen’s Essential Music for an Essential Cause

If the name David Uosikkinen doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps The Hooters, the band that brought national attention to Philadelphia’s pop music scene, sounds more familiar. Uosikkinen, drummer and founding member of The Hooters, has performed or recorded with Waters, Cooper, Stewart, and Lauper, as well as Taj Mahal and Patty Smyth. He’s also participated in Live Aid and Amnesty International. Uosikkinen has quite a resume, but he’s not finished. He’s still performing with The Hooters, who have been releasing new tunes over the past few years, and he’s embarked on his own project—one that pays homage to his roots in Philadelphia and benefits music education and mentoring—In the Pocket: Essential Songs of Philadelphia.
