24 Hours in NYC:
A Little Rock-n-Roll and a Lot of Style!
We received a last-minute invitation to attend the kickoff party for Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in New York City.
With perfect weather forecasted, we decided to make the trip.
Eli made it known that he did not want us to go.
But first, we had to find a hotel with just one day’s notice. We wanted a cool boutique hotel that had some style and a great location. The Roger was just what we wanted and more…And off we went!
We reached the Lincoln Tunnel in less than an hour and a half!
No traffic at all! Within minutes we were in the city!
And pulled up in front of The Roger.
From the front door to the front desk, we were greeted with welcoming smiles.
The hotel lobby was beautiful!
While I checked in, David took in the sights…
And then we made our way up to the room…
A corner room, with two huge windows and a view of Madison Avenue! Nice!
We made our way back down to the lobby and headed out for some lunch at Momofuku Noodle Bar.
Happy campers!
The Brisket Buns with horseradish, pickled red onion and cucumber did not stand a chance!
Neither did the spicy miso ramen with smoked chicken, swiss chard, and poached egg!
Momofuku is famous for their Fried Chicken. $100 serves 4-8 people.
Includes two whole fried chickens, one southern style and one korean style,
and it comes with mu shu pancakes,
long spicy peppers, baby carrots, red bell radishes, shiso leaves, bibb lettuce,
four sauces and an herb basket.
After lunch we headed back to The Roger for a little R & R…
And to get ready for DINNER! We decided on The Parlour at the hotel because we were short on time.
And it did not disappoint.
For starters:
Soda Dipped Fried Chicken
Caesar Salad
Entrees:
The Burger (of course)
Chicken Paillard
Dinner was wonderful. The ambiance at The Parlour was comfortable, warm and sophisticated.
As the sun set, and the rain came pouring down, we made our way around the corner to The Cutting Room for a little rock-n-roll.
The place was beautiful! I wish we had a venue like that in Philly.
David got to meet up with some old friends…
I got to meet May Pang, which was the highlight of my night!
It was a great night of music in a beautiful venue.
We made a dash for The Roger in the pouring rain, just in time for a late-night dessert.
And then time for bed. Good night, NYC!
We started the next day with a delicious Euro breakfast at The Roger, complete with eggs, smoked salmon, oatmeal and pastries. Everyone was super friendly throughout our stay.
Then, it was off to the Empire State Building. A first for me and very exciting!
That’s me looking frumpy in David’s shirt.
The weather report said 80 degrees. But, the high was only 54.
We went all the way to the top, 102 floors!
All that height makes a girl hungry! So, we stopped by Korea Town for some dumplings…
And Dolsot Bibimbob
With another meal down-the-hatch, it was time to pack our bags and head home to Philadelphia.
Bye bye, NYC. Thanks for another wonderful visit.
We’ll see ya soon!
Cheers,
Dallyn & David

Love it. The food looks delicious. The Roger looks like a wonderful stay. i may use it on upcoming trip. It would be great to get the passes for “The Cutting Room” and avoid the lines. And, of course, the Empire State, was cool to see again, haven’t been since I was a kid. Sweet trip thanks for sharing.

I smell the birth of a new Biz. “Jaunts and Bites w/ Dallyn & Dave.” You do all the scouting, make all the arrangements we just have to eat and enjoy (and pay). Sign me up.
