24 Hours in Cape May:

And a Week-Long Birthday Celebration

After three weeks on the road in Europe with The Hooters, David came home just in time to celebrate my birthday (for the first time in three years)! The week-long birthday celebration started out with a rockin’ party at Isabella in Conshohocken, PA courtesy of owner, Tom Richter. David and In The Pocket supplied the music, and Mom brought the beautiful chocolate birthday cake!

What a great night!

The following Saturday, my actual birthday, David’s band played the Philadelphia Folk Festival

and welcomed Todd Rundgren to share the stage for his 1967 classic, “Open My Eyes.” See the video here.

The next day, we met my mother in Atlantic City for an old-fashioned Italian dinner at the famous Chef Vola.

It’s been there since 1921!

And made our regular stops at the beach and, of course, the White House before we headed home.

But, the real celebration didn’t begin until we packed our bags and headed to Cape May.

It’s been exactly four years since we shared our first romantic getaway at the Main Stay in Cape May.

So, the timing was perfect to also celebrate our 4th anniversary together!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by one of their staff who showed us around…

…and brought us to our room, the Cardinal Gibbons.

We dropped off our bags and headed over to the Blue Pig Tavern at Congress Hall.

We dined al fresco on burgers…

…And took a walk around the beautiful grounds. Congress Hall reminds me of the hotel in The Shining!

After lunch we headed to the beach for some well deserved R & R.

What a glorious day!

At 4:00pm, we headed back to The Main Stay for “Tea.”

And a little siesta on the front porch.

After a quick shower and change, we were off to dinner at the Island Grill.

We dined on delicious Grouper with Black Lentils and a Bone-In Pork Chop with Japanese Eggplant and Savory Beans.

Then headed back to the Main Stay for more porch time…

The next morning started where the night before ended, on the front porch of the Main Stay, and a wonderful breakfast.

Then off for another day on the beach…

…and a great lunch from TOMMY’S, where the line is always long and the hot dogs are out-of-this-world!!!

And once again, it was tea time!

We reluctantly packed our bags and said good-bye to Diane and the nice folks at the Main Stay. We’ll be back soon, for sure.

But, before heading back to Philly, it was time for dinner at Cucina Rosa…

…and ice cream!

Thanks to the Main Stay for a wonderful birthday and anniversary celebration.

Bye bye Cape May. We’ll be back soon!

Cheers!
