On Thursday, June 26th Bar Ferdinand‘s Chef David Ansill welcomes Paul Lyons of The Good King Tavern for the last Pop-Up Guest Chef Dinner until fall. Bar Ferdinand invites you to be part of this extraordinary culinary collaboration of Chefs Ansill and Lyon’s inspired dishes.

About Paul Lyons:
Paul Lyons, executive chef at The Good King Tavern, is making his mark on the Philadelphia restaurant scene. Paul was first introduced to the back-of-house lifestyle at Bar Ferdinand. It was that experience that led him down the chef’s path. After working for Owen Kamahira in Northern Liberties, he headed to 13th Street with Marcie Turney and Val Safran, spending time at Barbuzzo and opening Jamonera as Chef de Cuisine. There he developed a taste for our beloved Mediterranean cuisine and a knack for management. In an effort to test his own versatility, he worked the summer of 2014 at Morgan’s Pier, feeding the masses.
Paul and the Grigri family were introduced by Owen Kamahira as Morgan’s Pier shut its gates for the season and the father/daughter duo embarked on opening The Good King. Shortly thereafter, Paul and Chloe travelled to Luynes in Provence, where they spent time with friends and family, baking breads in the early morning hours with the village boulanger and stewing up ratatouille. Since his return, Paul has been building and re-creating Southern French dishes at The Good King Tavern.

The Good King Tavern now animates the corner of 7th and Kater in Bella Vista. With roots in the South of France and Alsace, father/daughter duo Bernard and Chloe Grigri officially opened its doors in November 2014.
Offering French tavern fare and a chalkboard style menu, food specials, cocktails, draft beers and wines by the glass change regularly. Original cocktails are always in the mix, shaken and stirred to perfection. Affordable house wines are served by glass and pichet with a witty ranking of “good,” “better” and “best.” This is a cozy neighborhood spot, ripe with character. It is the place to go for a drink, a snack or a meal, early evening, late night or even mid-day, Friday-Sunday. Chef Paul Lyons leads the kitchen, developing daily dishes for The Good King’s ever-evolving chalkboard menu. Come one, come all.
